Elaine
President
My name is Elaine, and I am the President of WINK, having been a member for eight years. This has really taken me out of my comfort zone but that’s part of the WI’s ethos, to offer challenges and opportunities to women. I enjoy fitness classes, having fun with family and friends, going on holidays, curling up with a good book or crossword and hunting for the Gruffalo with my grandsons, and Quinn, my friend’s guide dog.

I was at the first meeting of WINK Rayleigh 11 years ago. I joined the committee as President 7 years ago, standing down in 2024. Now I support Elaine in her role. I love to travel, garden, seeing live theatre & meeting friends. Otherwise, I am working or granddaughter sitting.

I joined WINK seven years ago, when I realised that despite having lived in Rayleigh for years, I didn’t really know anyone locally apart from my next door neighbour! The girls at WINK immediately made me welcome, and now I have lots of local friends to do cool stuff with. I like to travel and have quite a lot of hobbies, and thanks to WINK, I also now have a circle of friends to share that with.

I manage WINK’s social media and website, and support Sue in her Secretary role. I joined WINK in 2021 to get to know people in the area as I had recently moved here. I enjoy baking, arts and culture and I like the variety of speakers, trips and activities that the WI has to offer.

Hi I’m Dawn. I am the treasurer of WINK and have been a member for about 8 years. I enjoy foreign holidays, gardening, history and all the social events WINK offers like eating out, interesting speakers, and meeting up with friends. I have recently taken up a new racquet sport, pickleball, which keeps me fit.

Hello I’m Jane. I organise the trips and our dinner group outings. I have been a member for about 7 years and really enjoy the socialising. I sign for the hard of hearing in a choir called Hands4Voices and enjoy making stained glass decorations, lawn bowling and knitting.

Hi, I’m Jenny. I joined WINK in October 2024 after being made very welcome as a visitor. They are a lovely group of people and I made the decision at this year’s AGM to step up for a role on the committee. I’m also Secretary for another local WI. I enjoy spending time with my family including 12 year old son and I love to walk.

I joined WINK just over a year ago as I wanted to try new things. I enjoy walking my dog and looking after the grandchildren. I also enjoy foreign holidays, keep fit, the cinema and eating out. I have occasionally made jam, but I’m not a baker!

I’m Sharon and I joined WINK about 9 years ago. I live in Wickford but joined WINK in Rayleigh as I felt it was a less formal WI which I like. My role on the committee is to keep the membership records up to date. I enjoy travelling, going to the theatre, walking my dog, spending time with my grandchildren and socialising with family and friends.

Hi I’m Tricia and I have been a committee member for 10 years. I love going away in my motorhome, am an avid crafter and a frequent swimmer. I’ve enjoyed being part WINK, who are an amazing group of ladies, and have made some lovely friends.
