May Meeting – 2nd Annual Plant Sale

Our May meeting was extremely busy as we held our 2nd annual plant sale. The tables were brimming with lots of delightful plants of all kinds! From aloe vera and sunflowers to tomatoes, gherkins, lettuce, basil and so many more, we were spoiled for choice. Thank you to everyone who donated and bought plants, pots and seeds, we raised over £160 for WINK funds.

We also had a very interesting talk by John from Essex Wildlife Trust about moths and butterflies, how to identify them and what types of plants to have in the garden to attract them and encourage their breeding. Without the wide variety of butterflies and moths that we have in the UK, many plants would not pollinate, and the biodiversity of our woodlands would be at huge risk. John’s talk was very informative, he is extremely knowledgeable, and we all learned so much about a species not many of us knew very much about.
